I would love to enter "support@boxer.com featureX" and the client would search for emails from support@boxer.com matching featureX in the text, for instance.
I'm using IMAP and I see that in this case, boxer sends such query: `(((from:("support@boxer.com featureX*")) or ((((to:("support@boxer.com featureX*")) or ((((cc:("support@boxer.com featureX*")) or ((((subject:("support@boxer.com featureX*")) or ("support@boxer.com featureX*"))))))))))))`

This does not match anything, of course, which is a pity.

I’m sorry but as my test below showed, Outlook.com shows the headers perfectly fine.

Not sure what is going on for you

Eddy, sorry it took so long:

    1) Tested with outlook.com account; the email copied to sent items does not include in-reply-to or references headers. This was tested on the latest Boxer beta version 2.6.1 (236)

    2) Tested with the special build; still no headers in sent items.

So it seems it is not IMAP server specific (reproduced on Outlook.com).

    Eddy, I just re-tested.

I would say that the IMAP server (Zimbra, in this case) is not stripping Boxer's headers. Perhaps you're using a build which does not exhibit this issue?

Should we open a new "support thread" for this issue, or do we continue here?

Let me know if I can test something else for you. The boxer version I'm using is 2.6.1 (233).

Eddy, thanks for getting back. There is an issue with the email, which is "copied" to sent items. This is the one without the In-Reply-To and References headers.

    Steps to reproduce:
    # Send test email from Gmail to IMAP account
    # On IMAP account, reply from boxer (android)
    # On gmail, verify that the reply contains In-Reply-To headers
    # On IMAP account, go to "sent items", and view the message source - this one has no In-Reply-To or References email headers

I believe even the email which is copied to "Sent items" should have those headers (same as the one being delivered).

Eddy, I can confirm that the beta build fixes the (double) reply issue.

I found an interesting "challenge" with regards to headers as well, though: For instance, the original email had a text "Original" and subject "Original" as well. While seearching for "Reply" (which is what I typed as part of my reply), I got the thread with reply, but not the first message of the thread (due to the fact that it didn't have the word "reply" in it. But, if Boxer would use the email headers provided for threading, the app could be able to display the email thread correctly.

I'll try the beta and let you know tomorrow. If you need help with headers, feel free to let me know what you need.
